Digital is infused across the school in support of the school’s mission statement and the International Baccalaureate and Ontario curriculums. The Digital Learning and Information Technology Departments work closely together at CDNIS through OneDoor to provide comprehensive digital services.

Programmes include:

  • 1:1 student iPads as personal learning devices and digital portfolios from Grade 1
  • 1:1 Mac laptops from Grade 4 through 12
  • 1:1 robotics programme from Grade 3 through 5
  • Google Educational Apps used extensively and in conjunction with other Cloud-based learning technologies for productive learning
  • Integrated Project Based Learning through MYP Design and other MYP Subjects
  • Lower School coding lessons to encourage students to experiment and give them the confidence to solve problems
  • Underwater robots programme to engage students in STEM education
  • MYP Design - digital literacy programme to empower students with the responsibility while using technologies and teach skills such as Python coding, design software, laser cutting and film 
  • IB Diploma Programme Film
  • IB Diploma Programme Computer Science
  • Teacher Professional Digital Learning to update and extend pedagogy
  • Digital Citizenship and Responsible Use Agreements
  • Media Club to develop moviemaking abilities and support digital media use across the school
  • Mentoring students for local and international coding and robotics competitions
  • Evolving MakerSpaces
  • Extensive use of digital within library systems
  • Student Digital Ambassadors programme
  • Nominate elite students to Gifted Students programme offered by the Engineering Department in City University of Hong Kong
  • Talks and training for parents

Family provided iPads and laptops, managed by the student, and supported by the school, form the backbone for curriculum use and creative application. The school’s approach is supported also by buy-your-own programmes and dedicated learning areas.

The IT Department provides the IT services the school needs for teaching, learning and administration as well as the core IT systems, tools and services that keep the school running day-to-day. Our tasks include:

  • Managing the school network and infrastructure
  • Helping to develop and implement IT governance, strategy and policies
  • Keeping our data and IT services accessible, safe and secure
  • Support school administration
  • Manage IT projects and programmes
  • Provide IT training, help and advice

OneDoor is part of the IT Department that provides digital service support to members of the school community including students, parents and staff. OneDoor acts as the first point of contact of technical support for:

  • Student iPads and MacBooks
  • Teacher and classroom digital equipment
  • Software deployment
  • Parent Portal
  • Student and parent school email accounts
  • Parental access to school services, including reports
  • Cloud services in use within the school
