At CDNIS, student well-being is at the heart of everything we do. Our Guidance Counselling Department plays a central role in fostering a safe, caring and supportive environment where every student feels known, valued and empowered to thrive.

Our counsellors take a proactive, child‑centred, and developmentally informed approach, partnering closely with students, families, teachers, and the wider community. Through classroom lessons, individual and family support, small‑group workshops, and parent education, the team ensures that every learner receives holistic care that supports emotional, social and academic growth.

The department includes three Lower School counsellors and seven Upper School guidance counsellors,

each dedicated to nurturing student well-being at every stage of development.

Our Counselling Philosophy

Our mission is to ensure that every student feels supported, understood and equipped to flourish. We are committed to:

  • Creating and sustaining a safe, inclusive, positive and joyful environment for all members of our community.
  • Nurturing the whole child across social, emotional, academic and identity development.
  • Guiding students to develop empathy, social awareness and compassion.
  • Empowering students to understand their strengths and to advocate for their needs and the needs of others.
  • Identifying and supporting the individual needs of learners at all stages of development.
  • Recognising that success looks different for every student.
  • Encouraging global citizenship, responsibility and purpose.
  • Promoting wellness and balance as essential elements of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Embracing diversity as a core part of who we are as a school community.
  • Working collaboratively with all stakeholders – students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the broader community - to support student growth and well-being.
