Canadian International School of Hong Kong has established itself as one of Hong Kong's premier international schools. The school opened with a mere 81 students in very humble dwellings in Causeway Bay in 1991. Today, the school boasts over 1,800 students in an award winning 40,710 square-meter facility that overlooks the picturesque Lamma Channel.CDNIS' success and growth over the years is in large part thanks to the generosity of its community. This generosity, both in time and money, from volunteers such as our Members, Governors, Committee Members, parents and teachers has helped to shape CDNIS into the school it is today.
As a private, registered non-profit charitable organization under Hong Kong law, CDNIS is managed by a volunteer Board of Governors which sets the strategic direction, while daily and annual operations are conducted by Senior Management led by the Head of School. CISPA, our parents' association, is run solely by parents who volunteer their time and expertise throughout the year to enrich the CDNIS experience.
Another facet of the dedication inherent in our community is exemplified through the generous donations it has provided both for Capital programmes, such as the Leo Lee Arts Centre or the Green Roof, and our Annual Giving programmes, such as the Alan Dick Fund, Artists-in-Residence Fund and, most recently, our Annual Giving Campaign. Gifts to CDNIS can receive a Hong Kong tax receipt. Donors with US taxable income can also make gifts through a US registered charity to receive a US tax receipt. The School cannot accept gifts from parents of children who are applying for admissions, unless they are already parents or alumni.
Such generosity of spirit, time and money has ultimately enabled us to build upon the hopes and aspirations that we continue to have for the education of our children at CDNIS.
