At the Canadian International School of Hong Kong (CDNIS) we have in place infrastructure designed to meet the current and future needs of students.All of the systems in place represent state of the art systems and processes, encouraging students to learn and explore at their creativity’s pace.

PARTNERING FOR THE FUTURE

CDNIS has developed a solid relationship with Apple, allowing us to leverage their wealth of global experience in the education sector.
In 2007, CDNIS started a mandatory Apple notebook program for all students in Grade 5 and above. The use of the notebook is a core feature of our school’s learning and teaching experience.With these in place, we are very confident that our students will be able to maximize their learning with technology available at their very fingertips.

WHICH MACBOOK FOR MY CHILD?

For the upcoming 2012-2013 academic year, we recommend two models of Apple notebook devices for students- the Macbook Pro 13 inch as our standard macbook or the Macbook Air 13 inch as a lighter alternative.
With these models, they should offer students 3~4 years of good usability. It is recommended that you should start to consider replacing your child’s notebook after 3 years of use. Be advised that you are required to have Apple hardware and software maintenance coverage for your child’s computer by extending the default 1-year coverage plan to a 3-year plan. Should you have need for extra protection, we have arranged with Zurich Insurance to provide additional insurance to further protect your investment. Note that it  has to be applied for within three weeks of collecting a new notebook.

NOTEBOOK ORDER FORMS

At CDNIS, we are supported by Apple to provide our school community with very competitive prices. This offer is only available through our appointed authorized Apple reseller, Senco-Masslink Limited. Order forms are below for you to download:

• Note: Every enrolled student at CDNIS is limited to one notebook computer for school related use. If families are interested in purchasing products, including workstations, for personal, non-school use, consult the Senco-Masslink Product Purchase Form above.

The entire ordering process should take around 3-4 weeks. Parents or students may collect ordered MacBooks directly from Senco-Masslink Limited or pick it up from school on the 7^th Floor, MacHub, when the school term starts.

CDNIS MACBOOK INSURANCE FORMS

CDNIS strongly suggests parents purchase insurance coverage for student notebooks. If you already have a home and content coverage insurance policy, see if it can be extended to cover your child’s notebook. Alternatively, you have the option of purchasing insurance through the school suggested provider,  Zurich Insurance.Please note that the deadline for purchasing cover through Zurich Insurance is 3 weeks from the date the notebook is collected. Upon Withdrawing from the School

Our school’s software is very much dedicated for our educational needs and is very specific to CDNIS. Regrettably, we cannot extend those software license to students when they leave CDNIS.Your child will be asked to re-image their notebook prior to leaving. Students need to backup all the personal data before visiting the  7^th Floor MacHub for re-imaging. The technician will inform your child when it can be returned to your child. The process should take about an hour.
The Admissions office will then be notified once the process is completed. For those who fail to comply, the school reserves the right to withhold transcripts and/or charge for the software titles taken away.
