Canadian International School of Hong Kong (CDNIS) is looking for the following position(s) :

1.   Lower School Inclusion Team Educational Assistant

We are looking for a Lower School Inclusion Team Education Assistant to assist in the delivery of inclusive and differentiated learning throughout the Lower School.  This position starts on August 1, 2018.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers by supporting the learning and social/emotional development of individuals and small groups
  • Assist in the delivery of individualized programs designed for specific students, under the direction of the Inclusion Teacher
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, other educational assistants, specialists, counsellors and administrators
  • Support individual students in a positive and enthusiastic manner as they work to meet their potential
  • Follow school-supported prevention and intervention programs to help students develop appropriate academic and social skills
  • Provide coverage, as required, for Inclusion Teachers in small-group intervention or push-ins to the classroom
  • Maintain professional conduct pertaining to confidentiality
  • Manage Inclusion Team documentation
  • Prepared to work across grade levels

Desired Qualifications and Experiences

  • Background in working with children with specific learning differences
  • Experience working in an inquiry based educational environment
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Current or recent experience working with children in a play-based, early childhood programmes

 

2.   Lower School Educational Assistants

We are looking for Lower School Education Assistants to start August 1, 2018.  Working with members of their grade level/subject area, and answering directly to the respective Principal, Educational Assistants are responsible for the pastoral care of students and the organization of the learning environment, and they assist in the Teaching and Learning Programme in order to support the needs of all students.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Current or recent experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or special education setting (desirable)
  • Excellent commend of English
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong

 

3.   Lower School Innovation Lab Technician

We are looking for a Lower School Innovation Lab Technician.  This is a Business and Operations staff position.

Reporting to the Leader for Making & Innovation & the Lower School Principal, the Lower School Innovation Lab Technician is responsible for the operational running of the Level 12 science & innovation lab, The Hive. The day to day running of this facility requires forward planning and initiative, to ensure that the safety, maintenance and function of the equipment, utilities and resources are ready for the benefit of the school community.

The person responsible for maintaining this facility must also be able to work well in team environments, collaborate with teachers and converse well with students to ensure clear communication and organisation of the space.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or certificate level education qualification
  • Minimum of 2-3 year related experience in an educational setting
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and use judgment in the resolution of problems
  • Good interpersonal and communication (oral) skills in English
  • Self-starter with ability to organize daily tasks, work independently and as a member of a team
  • Working knowledge of office procedures and standard office equipment including personal computers and office software
  • OR an equivalent combination of training and experience

Desirable knowledge / skills / experience

  • Use of 3D printers, laser cutters & hand tools.
  • Use of other equipment such as sewing machines, printing technology and cooking equipment.
  • Understanding of the principles of Design Thinking and the Maker culture.
  • Knowledge of science and science equipment / resources / processes.
  • Experience working with primary aged children.

 

4.   Upper School Health and Physical Educational Assistant

We are looking for an Upper School Health and Physical Educational Assistant. 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in the instruction, supervision and set up of HPE classes when required.
  • Assist in the supervision of classes to and from outside facilities.
  • Organize the booking of outside facilities (i.e. fields, tennis courts) as well as bus transportation.
  • Manage inventory, storage, maintenance, lending and ordering of HPE equipment.
  • Assist in the organization of HPE sports and activity days.
  • Assist in producing and maintaining department information, media and educational resources
  • Assist in managing department budget record keeping.
  • Coach or assist in coaching team(s) where needed in an area that aligns with the HPE assistant’s experience and skill set.

 

5.   Upper School Drama Assistant

We are looking for an Upper School Drama Assistant. 

Desired Qualifications & Experience

  • 100% Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Cantonese is desirable but not necessary
  • High level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Apps and Powerpoint
  • Sufficient knowledge of Photoshop/Adobe to create professional level programs
  • Personable, able to work to tight deadlines under high pressure, goes above and beyond, assertive in a classroom, flexible, friendly, student focused
  • Understanding of the demands of theatre
  • Available for evening and weekend rehearsals where needed

 

6.   Senior Analyst Programmer

We are looking for Senior Analyst Programmer to join our IT department.

Reporting to the Manager, IT, the Senior Analyst Programmer provides support for school wide data systems. He/She provides creative solutions to end user requirements, inquiries and problems, analyses data and business processes to identify opportunities for improvement, creates and edits custom reports using Crystal Reports and other reporting tools, creates and edits internal web pages to support the operations of various departments, communicates with data system vendors to resolve issues, works with outsource vendors to monitor program development and provides coaching and training to all members of the School.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Understands business flows and systems. Provides proposals to align with IT development and School practical requirements
  • Performs requirement analysis, design or customization, development, implementation, launch, operation and maintenance of the school information system with an emphasis on the application systems integration and reporting
  • Responsible for the day to day operations and performance of the school information system and other school wide data systems
  • Protects integrity of information for accurate statistical and information data
  • Maintains adequate and up-to-date system documentation and procedures for operational and security audits
  • Provides database management support and maintains required security measures on all school data systems
  • Provides coaching and training to users regularly, or on request
  • Liaises with software vendors to implement the school information system; liaises with software developers to coordinate and monitor outsourcing program development
  • Implements new systems and takes on and manages projects from start to finish
  • Performs other comparable duties as assigned that are within the area of knowledge and skills required by the job description.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree in Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in requirement analysis, design and relevant software development, implementation, integration and launch
  • Experience in mission critical system implementation is highly desirable
  • Experience in Web Services
  • Experience or knowledge in crystal report development and other reporting tools with a well-known database
  • Experience or knowledge in .NET, VB.NET, C#, ASP, Java, SQL and/or programming languages
  • Experience in working with Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Exposure to Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Unix, or Linux is an advantage.
  • Knowledge on mobile application development (Android / iOS) is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills in English. Knowledge in Cantonese and Mandarin is advantageous.
  • Ability to organize daily tasks, work independently and as a member of a team.

 

7.   IT Systems Technician

We are looking for IT Systems Technician to join our IT department.

Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Systems Technician supports the Senior Systems Technician in the day to day running of the school network, manages appropriate records of hardware and software, investigate reported faults and provides technical support and expertise to ensure the smooth and effective day to day operation of ICT services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Liaise with vendors; obtain quotations for the provision of IT solutions; scheduling with IT vendors; working with IT vendors; verifying quality of work from IT vendors; acceptance of work provided by IT vendors
  • Troubleshoot and support the School’s computer and network systems, including cabling, peripheral equipment, including printers, multifunction copiers, mobile devices and telephone systems including Internet Protocol (IP), and cellular, Public Address System, Security Camera System, Presentation System, LCD projectors and audio-visual equipment
  • Monitor networking equipment and servers. Install and update network system improvements as needed
  • Setup, install, upgrade, and configure computer systems and peripheral equipment, including printers
  • Install, relocates and programs phones; provides technical support and liaises with contracted service provider to resolve problems and ensure phone system stability
  • Perform routine tasks to maintain user accounts and permissions, including implementing disk space and printer quota policies
  • 
Perform asset management for both hardware and software. Update of asset records. Filing of disposal records
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to the other systems staff as required. Serve as back-up support for Digital Services Help Desk technicians
  • 
Monitor computer spare parts and consumables inventory (e.g. hardware, printer cartridges, projector lamps); provide specifications to purchasing for needed materials and equipment; verify goods received
  • Carry out basic safety checks. Clean, check, confirm operational safety and perform routine maintenance on working equipment on a daily basis
  • Respond to operational emergency situations (including off-hours calls)
  • Operate personal computers, peripherals, software (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, multi-media, diagnostic utilities, E-mail); hand tools, meters, soldering iron, miscellaneous test equipment; and other standard maintenance tools
  • Perform other comparable IT duties as assigned which are within the area of knowledge and skills required by the job description

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree / Diploma in Computer Science, or information systems or related field preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in an IT environment (preferably working in a multi-platform environment), involving the installation, troubleshooting and repair of desktop hardware, peripherals and software; advising users and developing technical solutions to a wide variety of problems in order to develop a good understanding of operating system and layered product software configuration, identify hardware or network problems and have all components work together
  • Broad knowledge in Apple platform’s usage and support, in both hardware and software, is required
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and use judgment in the resolution of problems
  • Good interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills in English. Cantonese is necessary for daily operations
  • Ability to organize daily tasks; work independently and as a member of a team
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

 

8.   Athletics Assistant

The Athletics Assistant is responsible for supporting the delivery of the Athletics Programme at CDNIS.  The Season is divided into 4 Seasons and many of the roles listed below are repeated each Season.  The Athletics Assistant is part of the Athletics Department and is expected to fulfil a variety of roles in assisting the delivery of the programme.  The Goals of this programme are to facilitate student  Participation in, Enjoyment of and Success in a sports.

Desired Qualifications

●      College/University education in a related field is desirable

Special Knowledge/Skills

●      Ability and experience to work well with students, parents and teachers in an International Setting.

●      A particular strength in a minimum of one sport and an interest in and knowledge of various sports as a participant and/or coach

●      Strong organizational and communication skills and exhibit the highest levels of professionalism

●      Initiative, responsibility and ability to work with a team to achieve goals.

●      Demonstrate knowledge, skill and understanding of hosting a variety of sporting events

●      A knowledge of or interest in the Award for Young People (AYP) programme

●      Most importantly; strong interpersonal skills, experienced working as a team, a positive attitude and a sense of humour

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

1.     Control Uniform Inventory and stock control of all Timberwolves Uniforms, including giving out  and collect uniforms at the start and end of season.

2.     Prepare and check rosters and enter eligibility rosters for all leagues we participate in.

3.     Coordinate sporting events held at CDNIS - often over weekends (up 10 12 weekends per year)

4.     Assist the AD with hosting events and when necessary, be solely responsible for the hosting of ISSFHK events and other school sports events.

5.     Be the point of communication for the Timberwolves Sports programme for parents, students and coaches.

6.     Develop, maintain and update the Timberwolves Website

7.     Assist the Athletics Council with their projects and to achieve their goals.

8.     Uphold and enforce school policies/administrative regulations and codes of conduct for athletes

9.     Maintain accurate administrative records and data for the athletic programme.

10.  Book and plan travel for our Timberwolves teams.

11.  Work with the Bus company to ensure reliable transport plans for all teams.

12.  Work with the AD to keep an accurate calendar to manage all sporting facilities at CDNIS.

13.  Prepare, maintain, set up and store all equipment needed in each sport in every Season.

14.  Assist the AD with the purchasing plan to ensure equipment is kept up to the highest standard.

15.  Book sports facilities for games and practices through LCSD and other providers off campus.

16.  Assist in inventory, care and maintenance of equipment.

17.  Participate in in-service training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed.

18.  Coach a team(s) where needed in an area that aligns with your skill set

19.  Travel to and supervise sporting events within Hong Kong and throughout Asia when required by the Athletic Director

20. Help with the logistics and leadership of the School AYP programme.  

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Work Day/Week

The Athletics Assistant will normally be required to work from 7:30 AM to 4:15 PM (Monday to Friday). Or a total of 40-45 hours per week  by negotiation with the Athletics Director

A longer day to 6:15pm will be required when hosting events or regular ISSFHK sports. When late evening or weekend work is required, the Athletics Director may assign lieu time to the Athletics Assistant.
